These signs follow them that believe

Two scriptures that we should find comfort in and claim the blessings from:

D&C 89:4, 18-21
"Behold, verily, thus saith the Lord unto you: In consequence of evils and designs which do and will exist in the hearts of conspiring men in the last days, I have warned you, and forewarn you, by giving unto you this word of wisdom by revelation...

18 And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones;

19 And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures;

20 And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint.

21 And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen.

D&C 84:65-73
65 And these signs shall follow them that believe—
66 In my name they shall do many wonderful works;
67 In my name they shall cast out devils;
68 In my name they shall heal the sick;
69 In my name they shall open the eyes of the blind, and unstop the ears of the deaf;
70 And the tongue of the dumb shall speak;
71 And if any man shall administer poison unto them it shall not hurt them;
72 And the poison of a serpent shall not have power to harm them.
73 But a commandment I give unto them, that they shall not boast themselves of these things, neither speak them before the world; for these things are given unto you for your profit and for salvation.

I believe the "poison of a serpent" refers to the poisons being created by secret combinations under the direction of Satan. Our only protection from these "evil designs" is obedience to the commandments, the word of wisdom, and faith in Jesus Christ. We must lay claim to these "signs" that follow those who believe. I also allow for possibility that the "wisdom" promised may come through videos from others. (I haven't watched the ones posted yet...). Pray for discernment and the gift of wisdom. We need this "destroying angel" to pass us by so that we can continue to build Zion and prepare a people for the return of the Lord.

Fasting in the Lords way...

In light of our upcoming fast, I thought it would be good to review this talk by Pres. Eyring: "Is Not This The Fast That I Have Chosen?" (after reading it, see if you feel like we should all make an online fast offering donation on Friday as well. I don't know about you, but when I participate in "special fasts", I don't usually think about making a fast donation, even though the simplest part of the fast is that we take the money we would have spent on food and donate it to the poor. After reading this, I think that should be part of every fast. If you agree....share this part of the fast on Friday with your friends and family, to increase the power of our fasting and prayers.) How will the Secret Combinations be overthrown?

Today I read this in 2 Nephi 11: 4 Behold, my soul delighteth in proving unto my people the truth of the coming of Christ; 6 And my soul delighteth in proving unto my people that save Christ should come all men must perish; 8...that whoso of my people shall see these words may lift up their hearts and rejoice for all men . I thought, wow...I have really been engaged in searching the scriptures and the words of the prophets to try to "prove" that God is going to do a "marvelous work and a wonder" among the children of men in response to this pandemic that will open the door for massive conversion to the gospel. And not so much to "prove" to convince, but to "prove" to build faith. Today, I was beginning the Come Follow Me study for this week, which is about Abinadi testifying before King Noah.
